The film, “Dao cua dan ngu cu” (The Island of Aliens or The Way Station) by director Hong Anh will be screened at the 70th Cannes Film Festival that is scheduled for May 17-28.

Vietnamese cinema industry presented at Cannes Film Festival


The Way Station was honored with the “Best film” Award and also won “Best Actor” for Pham Hong Phuoc and “Best Director of Photography” for People’s Artists Ly Thai Dung at the ASEAN International Film Festival & Awards (AIFFA Award) 2017 in Malaysia in May.

The movie is adapted from writer Do Phuoc Tien’s story titled “Dao cua dan ngu cu” (The Island of Aliens). 

The film depicts the confusion and uncertainty of the characters in their journey to look for happiness and the meaning of life.

The Way Station and other films, including Vo ba (The Third Wife), Vi (Flavor) and Con culi khong biet khoc (Sloth Monkey Never Cries) will be presented at the Vietnam Night on May 20. 

Additionally, the Vietnam Movie Department of the Ministry of Culture, Sport and Tourism with the support of artists, filmmakers and  the Le Centre national du cinéma et de l'image animée or CNC (the National Centre for Cinema and the Moving Image) will organize an event promoting Vietnamese movie and tourism at the booth No.230 at the Village International Pantireo during the film festival.

Three large-sized billboards with images of natural landscapes and cinema industry of the country will be placed in front of the Majestic Barriere hotel and opposite Palais des Festivals.
