The PM assigned the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to direct Vietnamese representative missions abroad to firmly grasp the situation of Vietnamese citizens in their respective countries, support and create conditions for the citizens, including fishermen, to return home on passenger flights of foreign airlines.
At the same time, the ministry was requested to promptly implement measures to protect the citizens, especially during the Lunar New Year holiday.
The PM also requested the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Public Security, National Defense, Transport, Health and relevant agencies to closely coordinate in receiving Vietnamese citizens back home.
Localities which receive returnees were required to actively coordinate in implementing medical monitoring measures to ensure effective disease control.
According to a report by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, there are still Vietnamese citizens left stranded overseas, especially in the Middle East and other parts of Africa.
Among more than 600 citizens stranded in these areas, 200 are in Saudi Arabia, 150 in Angola, and 85 in the United Arab Emirates.
