Actor Ha Tri Quang who joined the trip with Anh Vu told Dantri/Dtinews early Tuesday morning that comedian Anh Vu died on the night on March 31 (local time) at a house in California.

"We came here to join in a show held by the Saigon Performing Arts Centre in California," Quang said. "After performing at the second night on March 31, Vu stayed at a friend's house with his girlfriend and was found dead on the bed by her the next morning."

Quang added that the comedian seemed to have health problems during the tour.

"During the time we prepared for the show, he seemed very tired and said he had jet lag and was using sleeping pills. But he still did very well in the show."

The artist also said that police in the US had contacted Vu's family in Vietnam.

MC Thanh Tung who also joined the show said that Vu's health had recently deteriorated.

"His voice wasn’t as clear as before," Tung said. "He forgot callouts during the time we prepared for the performance."

The 47-year-old comedian was diagnosed with colon cancer in 2000 and had successfully fought off the disease. He was director of Kim Chau Theatre in HCM City.
