It is unveiled that the national costume, designed by Khanh Shyna, the main theme of the costume is royal yellow and is made of brocade and traditional silk.

It took the designer just three days and three nights of hard work to complete the costume.

Khanh Shyna says the dress is inspired by the phoenix-one of four sacred animals according to Vietnamese belief.

He adds that the five phoenixes on the dress symbolize strength and power of the Nguyen Dynasty.

The national costume contest is scheduled to take place on October 12.

Miss Grand International is one of the largest beauty contests in the world. In 2016 Vietnamese representative Nguyen Thi Loan finished in Top 20. Last year Nguyen Tran Huyen My was among Top 10 in the first-ever pageant held in Vietnam.
