Vietnam and Cuba sought to bring the defence cooperation to the next level of development during talks between their defence ministers in Hanoi on December 21.

Minister of Defence Phung Quang Thanh and Leopoldo Cintra Frias, who is Minister of Cuban Revolutionary Armed Forces, discussed orientations for the cooperation in the coming time as well as issues of concern.

General Thanh said Vietnam always bears in mind the valuable, free, and efficient support that Cuba had provided her during the past struggle for independence as well the current construction and defence cause.

Leopoldo Cintra Frias extended congratulations on the 70 th founding anniversary of the Vietnam People’s Army and the country’s achievements in its development process.

Both host and guest shared hopes that the visit will help cement the traditional friendship and solidarity between the two armies and people.

Minister Leopoldo Cintra Frias and his entourage have been in Vietnam since December 16 for a friendship visit through to December 23.

The Cuban officers paid tribute to late President Ho Chi Minh at his Mausoleum and visited some military units.
