“Only at the International Consumer Electronics Show will guests see a pop music star introduce a robot. Singer Justin Bieber is one of several celebrities expected to inject some star power into the massive gadget show kicking off this week in Las Vegas. Bieber will help the Vietnam-based tech company TOSY Robotics unveil an entertainment robot at their booth,” wrote The USA Today.
“CES doesn't allow under-18’s onto the show floor. So when Justin Bieber showed up at the Tosy Robotics booth, he was greeted with guttural man-screams from the predominantly guy-geek crowd. Bieber showed up to promote Tosy's new entertainment robot, mRobo. It's a little fella with a speaker in its belly and dance moves to go along with the tunes it plays. The robot is humanoid, but folds down into a more compact size for use as a portable speaker system. It joins Tosy's existing line-up of robots,” the CNET reported.
“Justin Bieber caused a minor scrum on the floor of the Consumer Electronics Show yesterday when he stopped by to launch a dancing robot for Vietnamese toy and robotics designer Tosy. The mRobo is designed as a speaker that can also dance to music uploaded from a USB stick.
Eventually a different screen worked and showed the robot doing a few more dance moves than the actual prototype was able to do. Tosy said the mRobo will be available for purchase this year. The price wasn’t immediately available,” the Macworld introduced.
Engadget described mRobot as a “petite, portable speaker-robot that dances - nay, transcends - just like his only slightly larger progenitor counterpart. When in speaker mode, the mRobo weighs in at just 3.3 pounds, stands a little under eight inches tall, and boasts 2GB of internal memory. Its integrated speaker pumps out the jams at bass levels of 40Hz, but the real magic happens once the music starts playing, automatically prompting the system to transform into an 18-inch tall robot and start dancing.”
“To say that CES was a mad point today at one point was an understatement as scores of people crowded around the Tosy Robotics booth hoping for a glimpse at Justin Bieber. The crowd was thicker than a Boxing Day sale at Macy’s as security had to continually push the crowd back to keep them at bay, each in hopes of just catching a glimpse of Canadian Superstar Justin Bieber,” described the SSD Review.
It is said that Tosy, the Vietnamese producer of mRobot, paid $500,000 to have the pop star unveiling their robot and the firm did a success in this marketing campaign.
TOSY Robotics is the first Vietnamese robotics firm that has started to produce 4 types of products - Giantic robots, Service robots, Industrial robots and High-tech toys - since 2002.
