Nguyen Da Quyen of Vietnam and Christopher Skouenborg of Denmark on March 30 launched an art exhibition in HCM City which explores different feelings of love.

In the exhibition called “In the mood for love”, visitors can freely name the art exhibits. Quyen uses original colors to describe different feelings and thoughts about love among couples, family members and people in society. Unique materials like chopsticks, flyers, mirrors, watches, wool and rice are also utilized with acrylic colors to create her works.

She will meet spectators on April 1, at 10 a.m.

Skouenborg, who has been working and living in multiple Asian countries for nearly 10 years, will showcase his black and white photos highlighted by some bright colors.

Quyen, the recipient of the Asian Creative Awards Vol. 1 2014 organized by the Asian Creative Network, described the show as a pop-up art concept that started in New York in 2007, which is less formal than a gallery or museum but more formal than a private art show.

The two artists used the same concept at their first exhibition in an old building in Binh Thanh District, HCMC. Visitors can also look at photos by local author Minh Quan who shares the same inspiration with the two hosts of the event.

Quyen said she encourages more people to show their creativity at her pop-up concept exhibition.

Skouenborg said, “Everyone can be an artist – learning new tools and challenging conformity.  Sometimes, it is necessary to get some mentors to learn to master tools but often, the journey is one that everyone can start on their own – certainly, in many cases, we are the masters of our own creativity.”

The free-entrance exhibition runs until April 6 at TOONG Oxygen, Level 3, Vista An Phu, 628C Hanoi Highway, District 2, HCMC.
