Games and mobile applications developed by Vietnamese programmers generated over 80 million USD in revenue from international users in 2024 - a 65% increase compared to the previous year, the fastest growth rate in the Asia-Pacific region.
This data was released by Google during its first-ever Google Apps Summit held in Vietnam on November 12. The American tech giant highlighted that Vietnam now leads the Asia-Pacific in terms of app revenue growth.
According to AppMagic, Vietnamese-developed apps received more than 6 billion downloads in 2024, with 5.7 billion coming from overseas users. On average, nearly 12,000 Vietnamese apps were downloaded every minute globally.

The Google Play ecosystem played a crucial role in this success, enabling Vietnamese developers to generate over 80 million USD in export revenue from global app users.
The app industry also created around 490,000 direct and indirect jobs across technology, advertising, content creation, and hardware manufacturing.
Google noted that Vietnam currently has the fastest-growing app revenue in Asia-Pacific, as the global app economy is projected to reach 750 billion USD by 2030.
“Vietnam is not just an ‘emerging market’ - it’s a global app powerhouse,” said Marc Woo, General Director of Google Vietnam. “The impressive export revenues earned by local developers are a testament to the exceptional talent of the Vietnamese developer community.”
The 2025 Google Apps Summit brought together more than 700 participants, including developers, experts, and tech leaders from Southeast Asia, India, China, South Korea, Australia, and other countries.
This was the first time Google consolidated three annual events - Playtime, Think Apps, and Apps Summit - into a regional forum focused on app development trends, revenue growth strategies, and the application of artificial intelligence (AI) in digital creation.
At the summit, Google shared 10 key strategies for app success, emphasizing the role of generative AI.
Globally, 90% of game developers have now integrated AI into their workflows, from code review and asset testing to user experience personalization.
For instance, India’s online learning platform Entri reduced development time by 40% through AI implementation. Indonesia’s video platform Vidio also uses Veo 3-based technology in its VidioGen system to automate video production.

In Vietnam, Vulcan Labs introduced “Daily Smith,” an AI assistant capable of scheduling, content generation, and office support.
Meanwhile, Wolffun - the developer behind the hit game Thetan Arena, which reached over 30 million users in its first month - shared that integrating Google Gemini boosted ad content output by 40%, reduced development time, and enhanced overall productivity.
“Google is a vital partner in helping us reach more than 2.5 billion global users and ensure our products are accessible to a wide audience,” said Nguyen Dinh Khanh, CEO of Wolffun.
Google also announced a 12-week training program called Google Play Apps Accelerator for promising developers, along with new initiatives such as the Game Design Class and App Design with AI Workshop.
To strengthen user security and combat fraud, Google introduced enhanced features like Google Play Protect and Enhanced Fraud Protection.
“The future of the app economy will depend on intelligent, personalized experiences - and Vietnam is leading the way,” said Aditya Swamy, Managing Director of Google Play.
Vietnam’s 65% revenue growth - equivalent to over 80 million USD from international markets - demonstrates the country’s remarkable momentum in app development and reflects the rising global competitiveness of Vietnamese developers.
