The re-joined nose operation is reported to be a success because the joined part is now “alive” and the wound begins to recover. The patient will be leaving the hospital this week.

The patient had the end of his nose cut off completely in an accident. He was brought to a local hospital. When the doctors asked the family members about the cut-off part, they hurriedly returned home to search for it and they found it under the table.

After the first-aid, the patient was transferred to the Vietnam-Germany Hospital, with the frozen cut-off nose, on February 17.

Doctors performed the first-time-ever 13 hour operation in a special operating room, equipped with a specialized microscope.

Doctors said that this was a very difficult operation because the blood vessels are very small, of only 0.4-0.5mm.

This is the first successful nose-rejoining operation in Vietnam. In the world, about 10 similar cases were conducted.
