VietNamNet Bridge – The Vietnamese Embassy in Greece opened in Athens on December 16, 2010.

 

The embassy officials met with representatives of the Vietnam-Greece Friendship Association and nearly 30 overseas Vietnamese in Athens on December 31 on the occasion of the New Year.

 

At the meeting, Charge D’Affairs Vu Bien announced the decision to establish the Vietnamese Embassy in Greece of the Vietnamese government.

 

Binh said that the embassy officially opened on December 16, 2010 and has carried out some activities in Greece and set up relations with the diplomatic corps in Athens.

 

Binh informed the Vietnamese in Athens of Vietnam’s policies for overseas Vietnamese and confirmed that one of the key tasks of the embassy is protecting Vietnamese citizens in Greece.

 

Nguyen Trung Thanh, chair of the Vietnam-Greece Friendship Association said that this is good news for the community of Vietnamese in Greece.

 

The Vietnam-Greece Friendship Association was set up in 2008. Its members are Vietnamese in Greece and some Greek people who love Vietnam, including Kostas Sarantidis, who is about to be naturalized into Vietnamese, named Nguyen Van Lap.
