Ho Chi Minh-based Dai Dung Metallic Manufacture Construction and Trade Corporation has won an US$80-million contract in providing structural steel for Qatar’s Lusail and Ras Abu Aboud stadiums, local media reported.

A representative of Dai Dung Co. confirmed the news in a recent meeting with the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Industry and Trade and Ho Chi Minh City Center of Supporting Industries Development (CSID).

Among these two, the 80,000-seat Lusail stadium would be the venue hosting the opening and final games of the 2022 World Cup.

As of present, Dai Dung is the only Vietnamese enterprise partaking in the building of football stadiums for the upcoming World Cup event.

After the tournament, the seats within Lusail stadium will be removed and the structure will be used as a community space with room for shops, cafés, athletic and education facilities, as well as a health clinic. The stadium is on course for completion in 2022.

Meanwhile, the Ras Abu Aboud stadium with detachable seats will be removed and repurposed into a variety of smaller sports and cultural venue, which would later be donated to countries in need of sporting infrastructure after the tournament concluded.

World Cup 2022 is scheduled to take place on November 21, 2022 and conclude on December 18, 2022.
