Vietnamese fashion designer debuts new collections in China
New collections of Yếm (Vietnamese bodice) and Áo Dài (traditional long dress) created by fashion designer Thuy Nguyen have been presented at Harbin Fashion Week held in China.
The various cultural values of Vietnam are expected to be introduced to international friends through the latest collections produced by local designer Thuy Nguyen.
During Harbin Fashion Week, as many as 28 designers from across the world come together to present their unique collections featuring the culture of each country.
Vietnamese women and their beauty are highlighted in the new collections created by talented designer Thuy Nguyen.
Thuy introduces various long dresses in traditional materials such as cotton, silk and satin in vivid colours.
Each creation is linked to stories and dreams that the designer has learnt and discovered from local women after visiting many remote places across the country.
The local designer graduated from the Vietnam University of Fine Arts and got a master's degree from the National Academy of Visual Arts and Architecture in Ukraine back in 2003.
She works as a visual artist and is involved in painting and art installations, along with movie and fashion design.
In 2011, she opened her first store in Ho Chi Minh City. Her designs typically revolve around topics such as motherhood, homeland, spiritual life, and nature.
