During the opening round Duy Nhat was able to control the fight, forcing his opponent back towards the ropes whilst being able to put together a number of attacks.

The Vietnamese fighter clinched victory in the second round, knocking out his Japanese opponent in the opening 30 seconds.

Going into the fight Watanabe enjoyed a stellar record, having won events such as the MAJKF, the J-Network, the WPMF Super Bantamweight Championships, and the WMC Muay Thai Open. He had a record of 19 wins, nine losses, and three draws in professional Muay Thai.

Going into the competition Duy Nhat needed to win a number of fights in order to gain the right to challenge defending champion Rodtang Jitmuangnon.

The win was his second victory at the ONE Championship having previously knocked out Malaysian fighter Azwan Che Wi during Asia’s largest martial arts occasion, the ONE: Immortal Triumph event in Ho Chi Minh City on September 6. VOV

Vietnam's top Muay Thai fighter Nguyen Tran Duy Nhat will compete against Japanese rival Yuta Watanabe in the ONE: Edge of Greatness event to be held at Singapore Indoor Stadium on November 22.
