The film is staged in the year of 2030 when much of the Vietnam’s farmland has fallen below sea level as a result of catastrophic climate change.

Most of the population has been evacuated, but Sao and her husband Thi, who live in a stilt house and earn a living by fishing and planting vegetables, refuse to leave their land.

However, their lives horrifically change when Thi is murdered. Sao takes a job at a floating farm where she suspects she may find his murderer but uncovers many horrible secrets along the way.

Nuoc 2030 is a masterfully crafted, atmospheric weave of elements from different genres: part end-of-the-world film, part science fiction, part thriller and part romance.

It reminds viewers of the film Buffalo Boy which brought about director Nguyen Vo Nghiem Minh fame and many awards.

The film will be screened from February 6-14 with main characters – Hoang Phi, Quynh Hoa and Quy Binh.
