VietNamNet Bridge – Vietnam has claimed first position in the South East Asian region despite its unconvincing performance at the 2012 ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) Suzuki Cup.
The squad lost 9 points and dropped three places to No.134 in the latest FIFA rankings, followed by Thailand (No.138) and Singapore (No.154).
Laos is the only team in the region which enjoyed a one-notch increase to No.170, while Malaysia fell 14 places to No.158 and Indonesia was down from No.145 to No.156.
Japan took the lead in Asia to rank at No.21, followed by the Republic of Korea (RoK), Australia, Uzbekistan, Iran and China.
Spain still dominated the world’s top ten with 1,606 points. The remaining positions went to Germany, Argentina, Italy, Colombia and England.
