VietNamNet Bridge – The national men’s football squad still tops the Southeast Asian region despite dropping one notch in the world rankings, according to the June announcement of the International Federation of Football Associations (FIFA).

In the world rankings, Vietnam is placed 133rd with 231 points, followed by Thailand (142nd), the Philippines (144th), Myanmar (155th), Malaysia (159th), Singapore (165th), Laos (168th), and Indonesia (170th).  

The top 3 include Spain, Germany and Argentina with the Netherlands jumping 4 notches to 5th but the UK falling two notches to 9th and Brazil three notches to 22nd.

In Asia, Vietnam is placed 19th while Japan maintains its leading position even after dropping to 32nd in the world’s rankings to be followed by the Republic of Korea (40th), Australia (47th) and Uzbekistan (58th).

The July rankings will be announced on July 4 and it will certainly have many changes when international matches in World Cup qualifying round as well as Confederations Cup will be held.
