According to the foreign ministry, the visit takes place in the context of the continued positive development of the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between Việt Nam and China, with many significant outcomes achieved.

The leaders of both parties and countries maintain regular exchanges, consolidating political trust.

Particularly noteworthy are the visits of General Secretary Nguyễn Phú Trọng to China in October 2022, followed by the state visit to Việt Nam by General Secretary and President of China Xi Jinping in December 2023.

Both sides have issued a joint statement on continuing to deepen and elevate the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership, building a future-oriented Việt Nam-China community of shared future, and opening up a new phase of cooperation between the two parties and countries.

Economic, trade, investment, and tourism cooperation between the two countries continue to enjoy new developments with increasing substances.

Foreign Sơn's official visit to China is of great significance, demonstrating the importance both countries attach to the friendly relations between Việt Nam and China.

The visit aims to further concretise the high-level shared perception of maintaining the positive development momentum of the Việt Nam-China relationship. It is also an opportunity for both sides to review and identify focal points of bilateral relations for 2024 and the following years, contributing to deepening and elevating the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership and building a future-oriented community of shared significance.

During the visit, the Vietnamese top diplomat is expected to hold talks with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, meet with leaders of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, visit the Hồ Chí Minh Memorial House in Guangxi, and participate in other important activities. — VNS
