Top athletes Van Ngoc Tu (women's 48kg), Huynh Nhat Thong (men's 60kg) and Le Tien Thanh (men's 66kg) will leave for intensive training in South Korea in March.

They will then join up with teammates to compete at the Asian Judo Championship in Uzbekistan from April 20-25 and an open tournament in Kazakhstan from May 13.

Nguyen Thi Thanh Thuy (women's 52kg) and Nguyen Thi Quynh (women's 52kg) will take part in competitions in France from February 6-7, Germany from February 19-21 and Morocco from March 10-13.

The tournaments will give the martial artists the chance to collect enough points to qualify for Brazil.

Four years ago, Tu took part in the London Olympics, but failed to make the top three.
