The ongoing International Art Exchange Exhibition is an initiative of the Kiro Fine Arts Association (South Korea) and the Viet Nam Fine Arts Association.

The exhibition introduces 116 artworks by 110 famous painters.

Through the artworks which are varied in materials, themes and styles, visitors will understand the characteristics of culture and art of the two countries.

“It’s a good chance to introduce beautiful artworks to the public in the capital and strengthen mutual understanding between peoples and artists from the two countries,” said painter Tran Khanh Chuong, chairman of the Viet Nam Fine Arts Association.

The exhibition presents many works by famous Vietnamese artists such as Thanh Chuong with lacquer painting Kiều, Vi Kien Thanh with lacquer painting Autumn, Le Tran Hau Anh with oil painting Mountainous Village and Pham Binh Chuong with oil painting Tet (Lunar New Year).

While most of the Vietnamese artworks focus on culture, people and nature, the Korean artists are inspired by traditional scripts, patterns and symbols. They display calligraphic works in Chinese ink and watercolours.

The Korean artists include Lee Sang-ro, Yun Bu-nam and Byun Sung-hee.

The Kiro Fine Arts Association has 10,000 members who share the same commitment to preserve and promote traditional art.

Yun Bu-nam, chairman of Kiro, said in recent years Vietnamese and Korean artists had held many joint exhibitions but this was the first time artists from Kiro had introduced their works in Hanoi.

“I expect that after the exhibition, our members will have more chances to display their works in Vietnam. These activities provide good conditions for us to understand Vietnamese culture and arts.”

“I will also help Vietnamese artists to exhibit in Korea,” he said.

The exhibition will run until March 30 at the Exhibition House, 16 Ngo Quyen Street, Hanoi.
