Vietnam’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a warning to Vietnamese citizens in Ukraine, advising them to stay informed, make necessary preparations for their safety, and consider evacuating major cities amid the escalating Russia-Ukraine conflict.

At a regular press briefing on the afternoon of November 21, Ministry spokesperson Pham Thu Hang responded to questions regarding the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. She highlighted the growing risk of escalation and its potential impact on several major Ukrainian cities.

The ministry urged Vietnamese residents in Ukraine, including those studying and working there, to have the best safety plans in place for themselves and their families. These plans include evacuating from major urban areas and steering clear of hazardous zones.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs also emphasized the importance of closely monitoring warnings issued by local authorities, the Consular Department, or Vietnamese diplomatic missions abroad.

Citizens were advised to stay in regular contact with Vietnamese community groups and the Embassy of Vietnam in Ukraine to ensure timely responses to changing conditions.

Spokesperson Hang further advised Vietnamese nationals to avoid traveling to Ukraine unless necessary.

For emergencies, Vietnamese citizens can contact the Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ citizen protection hotline at +84 981 84 84 84 or email baohocongdan@gmail.com.
