VietNamNet Bridge – The Department of Culture and Sports of HCM City has banned model Ngo Quynh Mai from performances and imposed VND22.5 million fine ($1,000) for her participation in the Asia's Next Top Model competition without a license.
The sanction is said to be “tough” because the agency summoned her three times but the model was absent. However, the model finally met with authorities to admit her violation.
Quynh Mai, born in 1995, 1.71 meters high, was previously a dancer. She entered they top 45 of Miss Universe Vietnam 2015, and top 30 of the TV dancing contest “So you think you can dance”.
Joining Asian's Next Top Model 2016, she was out from the third episode but she impressed the audience with her strong personality.
Earlier, many models and artists in Vietnam were fined for taking part in foreign beauty and modeling contests without permission of the authorities: model Quynh Nga at Miss Southeast Asia 2015 in Malaysia, Lam Thuy Anh at Miss Beauty Global 2015, Taekwondo artist Nguyen Van Son at Mister Global, models Cao Thuy Linh, Tuong Vy, Dieu Linh, Phan Hoang Thu at foreign beauty contests.
