The movie Cuoc Doi Cua Yen (Life of Yen) about the life of a young woman and her marriage arranged by her parents directed by Dinh Tuan Vu  will compete in the 9th World Premieres Film Festival 2016 (WPFF) slated from June 29 up to July 10 in the Philippines’ Maniala.

Vietnam is the “Country of Honor” in the film fest. Eight contemporary Vietnamese films will be screened throughout the festival, including Trung So (Jackpot), My Nhan (The beauty), Nhung Dua Con Cua Lang (Children of the Village), Toi Thay Hoa Vang Tren Co Xanh (I See Yellow Flowers on the Green Grass or Dear Brother), Nuoc 2030 (Water 2030), Tren Dinh Binh Yen (On the Top of Peacefulness), Nha Tien Tri (The Prophet), 12 Chom Sao: Ve Duong Cho Huou Chay (12 Constellations: Draw Lines For the Deer Run Means Nothing).

Vietnamese directors will also take part in the festival, roundtable discussions, attending media functions during their stay, and representing Vietnam at each gala event.

The WPFF celebrates the power and magic of film by showcasing the works of film directors across the globe.

Featuring a dazzling array of human narratives, cultural diversities, and social issues, the festival provides a unique opportunity for filmmakers to reach new audiences in the Philippines, and launch their international premieres in Asia’s rapidly growing film climate.

This year’s event attracts over 60 international films.
