“Mui Co Chay” features four Hanoian students, namely Hoang, Thanh, Thang and Long, who joined the army during the resistance war against US aggression in 1971.
They were trained very fast and then sent to the Quang Tri ancient citadel battlefield. Three of them died in heavy fighting, only Hoang luckily returned home on Vietnam’s Reunification Day (April 30, 1975). His experience of the 81 day-and-night fighting in the citadel and Thach Han river area is unforgettable.
In Vietnam, Scent of Burnt Grass has received a number of important awards, most recently the best film and best editor in the 2011 Golden Kite Award.
