VFF Chairman Tran Quoc Tuan (middle).

This is the second consecutive time that Tuan has been trusted by AFC to be given the important position in this agency, which organizes and develops football tournaments in the continent as well as the region.

Tuan has been a member of the AFC Executive Committee since 2011, and has held important positions in this organization.

The appointment not only shows Tuan’s personal capacity, but also his reputation and ability to contribute to Vietnamese football for the continent as well as the region.

During his first term at the AFC Executive Committee, Tuan left his mark with initiatives and strategic solutions such as the decision to increase the number of teams participating in the Asian Cup Finals from 16 to 24 teams from 2019, opening up opportunities for more teams, thereby creating more impetus for the development of football on the continent.

He also contributed ideas to adjust the format of the AFC Cup and AFC Champions League to make the playing field fairer and more reasonable for clubs in different regions of Asia.
