VietNamNet Bridge – It is quite a surprise that iPhone 5, which hit the market last year, not iPhone 5S or iPhone 5C, the latest models of Apple, is the best seller in Vietnam.

All the big smart phone distributors in Hanoi have affirmed that the sales of iPhone 5 are much higher than its brothers iPhone 5C and iPhone 5S.

The representative of CellphoneS Shop at No. 19 Thai Ha street said iPhone 5 is the best seller there, while iPhone 5S ranks the third.

The Gioi Di Dong, the biggest phone distributor in Vietnam has confirmed that iPhone 5 is the second best seller within its distribution chain.

The Hai, 38, said he has bought an iPhone 5 instead of iPhone 5S, because the former product is much cheaper, while iPhone 5S has been overvalued.

Hai said he has found after learning about iPhone models that iPhone 5 is the best model if considering its selling price and the efficiency, which means that iPhone 5 deserves its price.

“iPhone 5S has been advertised as having the fingerprint identification feature, but what is it for? I don’t think I will use the feature in reality,” he said.

“Meanwhile, the prices of iPhone 5 have decreased considerably, but it is still modern and runs well on iOS 7,” he added.

Others said they buy iPhone 5 because they got too disappointed with iPhone 5C. “I intended to buy iPhone 5C as a gift to my wife, but I have changed my mind,” an IT engineer said.

The man explained that the model has overly high selling price, though iPhone 5C, which has plastic cover, is inferior to iPhone 5 in terms of the luxury.

A distributor, who asked to be anonymous, said he has been warned about the unsalability of iPhone 5C, but he could not imagine before that the sale of iPhone 5C would go so slowly.

iPhone 5C hit the market with the quoted price of VND18 million. However, the price tumbled to VND13 million just after 10 days. The sale of the model has not been improved even when the price decreased dramatically.

The representative of a big shop in Hanoi said the shop still cannot sell any iPhone 5C so far.

iPhone 5C has been refused not only in Vietnam, but in China as well. Chinese retailers quote the price of $730 for iPhone 5C, but it’s easy now to find the shops from which one can buy the product at $600 only.

Especially, a source said he found on a Chinese website an ad piece that iPhone 5C with unbroken seal, which has not been activated is offered for sale at $500.

Meanwhile, the iPhone 5 price is on the decrease. Its price went down to VND14 million just some days before iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C arrived in Vietnam. And the price has gone down further by VND1 million more. An iPhone 5 16 GB now can be bought at VND13 million.

Huy, the manager of a smart phone shop, predicted that the prices would be decreasing further. As such, all the three most impressive iPhone models have seen the downward trend in prices.

Analysts commented that this is for the first time the prices of iPhone models decrease so sharply. iPhone 5S have been sold at VND16-20 million.
