From April 4 to 7 and 11 to 14, the 6th ViFF will be held. The festival was launched in 2003 by two non-profit organizations - the Vietnamese American Arts Association (VAALA) and the Vietnamese Language & Culture Association in UCLA, with the aim of supporting and promoting the works of Vietnamese origin directors.

The VIFF 2013 will take place at the Edwards University Town Center 6 (Irvine), UC Irvine, UCLA, and the Bowers Museum (Santa Ana).

The 6th ViFF will introduce movies made by directors and producers from all over the world such as Australia, Cambodia, Canada, Czechoslovakia, France, Germany, Poland, Singapore, Switzerland, Vietnam and the United States.

Being unveiled for the first time in 2003, the festival is held every two years and this year it marks the milestone of 10 years old.

This year, VIFF 2013 will screen 69 films, including 51 short films. Half of the short films (26 films) participated in the YxineFF 2011-2012. This is the result of close cooperation between ViFF and YxineFF in the last three years.

The films of YxineFF will be screened in eight days of the festival. In particular, there will be a short film program of YxineFF called "Best of YxineFF" with the notable films of YxineFF in the two years 2011-2012, including: Dawn, 16:30, Being on Duty with Shu Qi, An Interrogation, One Day, Going Out with Rock, Uncle and Nephew and Story of Every Family.

The screenings dedicated for YxineFF movies will take place at 1pm on Saturday, April 6 at Edwards University, Irvine.

"This is a collection of selected YxineFF films that tell the story of a diversity of life, which convey the personal messages of young Vietnamese filmmakers and the message at international stature. The movies will definitely bring to ViFF audience an unforgettable experience and the opportunity to share their thoughts and feelings to the Vietnamese youth throughout the globe," says Marcus Manh Cuong Vu, who will represent YxineFF to attend ViFF.
