From November 1 through December 3, five short documentaries by young directors of Vietnam, including “The Love of A Bananas Salesman” by Huynh Thanh Si, “Xe Om” by Nguyen Thi Tham, “Give Me A Ticket Back to Childhood” by Nguyen Thi Minh Phuong, “When We Are 20” by Nguyen Anh Thu, and “Hard Coal” by Le My Cuong will be screened at 10 universities in the US.

These works are shown in the framework of the program to introduce Vietnamese films to Vietnamese students in the U.S. of the Institute for Vietnam-US Culture and Education Exchange (IVCE). This institute used to introduce many famous Vietnamese movies like “Little Heart”, “Moon in the Bottom of the Well”, “Adrift”, “Living in Fear”, “Deserted Valley” to American students.

Hong Anh, executive producer of the "89 600 km + ..." short film making project, said the screenings are held free of charge (except in New York and Washington DC), attracting an average of 30 to 70 people per show. The audience was not only Vietnamese students but also overseas Vietnamese and American people. Hong Anh and Vietnamese film directors talked with the audience after each film screening.

After the program, Hong Anh will cooperate with IVCE to introduce short films by young Vietnamese directors in the U.S. to the Vietnamese audiences.

In the future, the actress desires to make connection between young short-film directors in Vietnam and Vietnamese students in the US.
