The similar scene in Bao Thy's and HuynA's clips
Before Korean website Chosun reported that Bao Thy stole the concept of HuynA’s Bubble Pop music video, another Vietnamese pop singer, Cao Thai Son, was accused of copying the ideal of Se7en’s video last September.
A Korean music website named Soompi said that Cao Thai Son’s “Nguoi O Lai” music video is 90 percent similar to Se7en’s “Come back to me”.
Both Bao Thy and Thai Son denied the accusation. Bao Thy said the two clips have only one similar scene. However, the singer admitted that she watched a lot of Korean music video.
Actually, the influence of K-pop is shown not only through one scene but also on Bao Thy’s make-up style, costumes, etc.
Cao Thai Son denied the accusation by the question “Who is Se7en?” Did he think that if he did not know who is Se7en, he would not have been accused of plagiarism? But the two clips are similar. Moreover, Cao Thai Son’s ‘hotboy’ style is also similar to many Korean singers.
Vietnamese pop singers are not aware of the great influence of K-pop on them. Although they are not named by Korean newspapers as plagiarists, but unintentionally, they ‘copy’ their Korean colleagues’ style or ideas.

The latest clip of pop diva My Tam, “Chuyen nhu chua bat dau” (Story that does not begin), tells a story about a girl who knows that she is dying by illness. The girl seeks every way to break up with her boyfriend but the guy discovers the truth. They share painful minutes together before the girl dies. Such sorrowful stories come from the “Korean wave.”
The influence of Korean pop or K-pop on Vietnamese singers is very clear, from costumes, make-up style, dances to performing style. Korean bands also cover all music channels of Vietnam.
Vietnamese young people are also charmed by Korean music. The biggest evidence is the madness of Vietnamese fans at music shows that had the presence of Korean singers and bands like Super Junior, Girl’s Generation, Big Bang, etc.
The Korean wave in Vietnam is so strong. Vietnamese fans love Korean songs, Korean costumes, Korean style, etc. To win the heart of fans, Vietnamese singers have no choice: trying to be similar to Korean.
Without accusation of plagiarism, one can see the Korean style on many Vietnamese singers. The similarity has shown the standstill of Vietnamese singers.
