Ly Le Quan, a Vietnamese student at the University of Technology in Sydney, was honoured in a ceremony held on September 15 in New South Wales to highlight the academic achievements of international students in 2014.

Quan outperformed thousands of international students at UTS and other universities, landing amongst the top three finalists in the category of undergraduate and postgraduate study.

The award not only highlights her personal success in her academic and extracurricular endeavours, including charity work and community volunteering, but also increases the image of Vietnamese students in Australia.

Quan came to Australia in 2011 and is currently in the final semester of her Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Science. Her life ambition is to be part of the new generation of scientists, with an interest in cancer research, paediatrics and well-being.

She is also an international student ambassador for the City of Sydney, a student ambassador for UTS and connection director of UTS’ Medical Biosciences student body.

Currently, more than 22,000 Vietnamese students are enrolled at Australian universities.
