Dinh Quang Tuyen, a chemical engineering student from the Hanoi
University of Technology was announced as the winner of the 2012 Asia
Pacific UniSim Design Student Challenge at the Honeywell Users Group
(HUG) Asia-Pacific Symposium.
Tuyen has used the
UniSim Design Suite to effectively simulate the most important
conversion process used in petroleum refineries, called Fluidised
Catalytic Cracking (FCC). It is expected to help to maximise the
gasoline yield produced. The model was tested for accuracy by using
crude oil from a Vietnamese refinery.
The student
showcased his winning design to almost 300 industrial experts and
manufacturing companies at the HUG Asia-Pacific symposium which took
place in the Gold Coast, Australia .
Honeywell’s
UniSim Design Challenge is an annual competition for university
students held in conjunction with the HUG Asia-Pacific Symposium.
