Google has announced a new offer giving eligible students in Vietnam and 139 other countries free access to its Google AI Plus plan for one year, expanding the use of generative AI across education.

The plan normally costs VND132,000 (about $5) per month and includes unlimited file and image uploads, twice the standard usage limits, access to the Omni model and 400GB of storage.

Students are also offered preferential pricing when subscribing to a package combining Google AI Pro with YouTube Premium.

The initiative comes as Google expands AI-powered learning features across Gemini, Search and its education products, giving students new ways to study course materials, identify gaps in their knowledge and prepare for exams.

Gemini gets a dedicated space for students

The Gemini app now includes a dedicated environment for students, with tools for creating study guides, flashcards and practice tests.

Students can upload academic materials and use Gemini to break lessons into more manageable sections, identify areas where their understanding may be weaker and monitor their learning progress in real time.

Gemini Live also allows students to discuss Deep Research reports interactively, turning research material into a more conversational learning experience.

Google is extending AI-assisted learning beyond Gemini itself.

In Google Search, interactive simulations integrated into AI Overviews can help users visualize complex scientific concepts. The tools are also designed to support preparation for international standardized tests such as the SAT, GRE and ACT.

Gemini Notebook, previously known as NotebookLM, has also been integrated into AI Mode in more than 180 countries, including Vietnam.

Together, the features are designed to make AI more directly useful throughout the learning process, from organizing academic materials and reviewing concepts to research and exam preparation.

AI tools also expand for teachers

Google is extending its education-focused AI capabilities to lecturers and teachers.

Google Classroom can support more personalized learning progress, while AI tools can help educators analyze grades and prepare lesson plans more quickly.

At the same time, Google says data stored in Google Workspace for Education is protected and is not used to train its AI models.

For Vietnamese students, the one-year Google AI Plus offer provides access to a broader suite of AI tools at no cost during the promotional period, potentially making advanced AI-assisted learning more accessible across universities.
