This year marked the first time the competition was hosted in Vietnam. The event was organized by the University of Engineering and Technology in coordination with the KOSEN Programming Contest Support Association and the Vietnam Informatics Association.
Now in its 17th edition, the contest is an academic platform that brings together students passionate about programming and technological innovation from several countries. This year’s competition attracted 36 teams with 114 students from four countries: Vietnam, Japan, Thailand and Mongolia.
The competition included two categories: a programming contest section focused on algorithm design and problem solving, and a themed software section encouraging teams to apply advanced information-processing technologies to solve real-life challenges.
In the final results, Japanese teams won first prize in both categories.
The Vietnamese team from the Faculty of Information Technology at the University of Engineering and Technology - Nguyen Van Nhat, Nguyen Dang Khoa and Do Thai Son - was the only team from Vietnam to win a prize, earning third place in the themed software section.
Their project was an application designed to monitor and forecast air quality.
According to Prof. Chu Duc Trinh, rector of the University of Engineering and Technology, the competition provides a dynamic academic environment where students can develop teamwork, time management and problem-solving skills while working under high pressure. It also creates opportunities for students, lecturers and experts from different countries to exchange knowledge and strengthen cooperation in research and education.
