A centre for Vietnamese studies was opened in Udon Thani province, northeastern Thailand, on November 1.
The University of Sydney in Australia has set up the Sydney Vietnam Institute with a view to further promoting its cooperation with leading educational and research establishments of Vietnam and contributing to relations between the two countries.
The demand for studying Vietnamese language and Vietnamese culture has been increasing as the country plays an increasingly important role in Asia Pacific and the world.
Dr. Hoang Trong Phien is one of the leading scientists in Vietnamese studies. He is not only known as a famous expert on grammar studies but is also the founder of the subject on teaching Vietnamese to foreigners in Vietnam.
On the opening day of the fourth international conference on Vietnamese studies in Hanoi, which draws nearly 1,000 scientists from 36 countries and territories, the East Sea issue attracted the attention of many attendants.
