Teeters, who coached American eleven-time Olympic medalist Ryan Lochte, will guide the 18-year-old swimmer until the end of next year.

Vien also recently revealed a personal goal: to become the first Vietnamese athlete to qualify for the 2016 Olympics in Brazil.

Vien made history as she clinched the country's first-ever bronze medal in the swimming event at the 17th Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea on September 23.
