VietNamNet Bridge – Vietnamese swimmers have failed to make the finals of their events so far at the ongoing World Championships in Turkey.

Nguyen Thi Anh Vien finished 41st out of 67 competitors in the women's 100m backstroke with a time of 1min 03.63sec, well outside her personal best of 1:02.70 set at the Southeast Asian Swimming Championships in June.

Teenager Vien will be hoping to make a splash in the upcoming 50m and 200m backstroke events.

Teammate Hoang Quy Phuoc came 40th in both men's 200m freestyle and 100m butterfly categories, but still has the 50m freestyle to make an impact.

Nguyen Thi Kim Tuyen ended 28th out of 33 rivals in the women's 200m butterfly. Her result of 2:20.73 was 16.54sec behind winner Katinka Hosszu of Hungary.

Tuyen will next swim in the 50m butterfly.
