Nguyen Van Khoa, chairman of the Vietnam Software and IT Services Association (VINASA), has been re-elected vice president of the Asian-Oceanian Computing Industry Organization (ASOCIO) for the 2027-2028 term, making him the Vietnamese representative to hold the position for three consecutive terms.

According to VINASA, the decision was made at an ASOCIO General Assembly meeting in Jakarta, Indonesia, on the afternoon of Oct. 5.

Khoa's new term will run from Jan. 1, 2027 to Dec. 31, 2028. He previously served as ASOCIO vice president for the 2023-2024 and 2025-2026 terms.

VINASA said his continued support, including backing from major economies such as Japan, reflects growing recognition of Vietnam's role and voice in the region's digital technology industry.

During his new term, Khoa said he would focus on strengthening connections among member economies as artificial intelligence (AI), quantum computing and semiconductor technologies drive major changes across the global economy and technology landscape.

"This is not a time for economies to go it alone. ASOCIO needs to become a closely connected platform where members not only share technology and resources but also work together to create standards and shape the digital future," Khoa said.

The ASOCIO Digital & AI Summit and Awards 2026 is being held in Jakarta from Oct. 5-7.

Under the themes "Accelerating Digital Transformation" and "AI Beyond the Hype," the event brings together technology leaders from 24 economies.

The summit focuses on promoting innovation, technological cooperation and trustworthy AI development, while seeking to strengthen the Asia-Oceania region's role in shaping global AI standards and governance mechanisms.

Outstanding initiatives from member economies will be honored at the ASOCIO Digital Awards and ASOCIO AI Awards 2026 on the evening of Oct. 6. Vietnam has 10 nominations.

Founded in 1984, ASOCIO represents the information technology industry across the Asia-Oceania region and more than 10,000 multinational companies.

The organization promotes business cooperation, technology exchange and the development of the information and communications technology industry among its member economies.
