According to the plan, the Polytechnic University, the Vietnam - Korea University of Information and Communications Technology and the University of Technology and Education will seek to enroll nearly 200 students in the new major.

Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Hong Hai, vice principal of Polytechnic University, said the university will launch the new microelectronics faculty in order to provide a workforce in the field of semiconductor chips in Vietnam. He revealed the institution plans to enroll more than 3,500 students for the coming academic year, with roughly 100 enrollments in the new major.

Meanwhile, Associate Professor, Dr. Phan Cao Tho, president of the University of Technology and Education, said his institution is developing a project to enroll students in the semiconductor circuit design major, adding the first course will be implemented this year and will involve about 50 students.

Furthermore, a representative of the Vietnam - Korea University of Information and Communications Technology also revealed it will recruit 1,500 students this year with the new semiconductor circuit design major expected to enroll 40 students.

Vietnam has emerged as a bright spot in FDI attraction, especially in the semiconductor sector. Recently, the US Semiconductor Industry Association and many US firms have arrived in Vietnam seeking to explore the investment climate and conduct a survey on various locations which are suitable for shifting chip production.

According to details given by experts, with the co-operation of US technology enterprises, the country will be able to produce semiconductors on a larger scale in 2024.
