At 12pm on December 4, Nayou, a Bangladeshi vessel, carrying over 200 people, sank on its way from Bangladesh to Malaysia.
A day later, the Nosco Vitory ship of the North Sea Transportation Company of Vietnam, which was going from the port of Chittagong (Bangladesh) to Singapore to take oil, picked five people adrift at sea.
Upon receipt of the information, the Vietnam Centre for Coordination on Maritime Search and Rescue (Vietnam MRCC) asked the ship to continue searching for the victims and notified the maritime rescue agencies of Malaysia, Singapore, Bangladesh and Myanmar to participate in the search.
At 6pm on December 5, Nosco Victory rescued 39 people while nine others were saved by a container ship. The victims can not speak English.
It is expected that Nosco Victory will dock in Singapore on December 9.
Search and rescue agencies of related countries are actively searching for the remaining victims.
