A variety of unique ceramic products coated with 24K nano-gold are now on display at the Nason Spiritual Ceramic Heritage Cultural Space founded by Dr. Le Duy Hao.

On the evening of August 22, the Soldiers' Heart Organization and veteran Le Duy Hao hosted the official launch of the Nason Spiritual Ceramic Heritage Cultural Space.

At the event, Dr. Le Duy Hao was awarded a Certificate of Cultural Heritage Space by the Vietnam Cultural Heritage Association, recognizing the Nason spiritual ceramic showroom and exhibition. This marks a significant milestone in his more than decade-long journey of research, innovation, and establishing a distinguished Vietnamese ceramic brand.

From soldier to ceramic innovator

Prof. Dr. Truong Quoc Binh from the Vietnam Cultural Heritage Association presents the certificate to Dr. Le Duy Hao.

Born in 1959 in Dao Xa commune, Phu Tho Province, Le Duy Hao joined the military at 18 and served in combat at Vi Xuyen front (Ha Giang) as part of the 543rd Engineering Brigade, Military Zone 2. After more than 11 years in service and reaching the rank of Captain, he retired and returned home to begin a challenging entrepreneurial journey.

Fueled by a desire to contribute, he started his ceramic business in 2010. Self-taught, he invited master artisans to Dao Xa and directly engaged in nearly every production stage—modeling, decorative painting, glaze mixing, kiln building, and firing. He meticulously documented, experimented, and adjusted each technical detail. On nearly 30 hectares of land licensed by the province, his dedication and presence became a familiar sight to the local community.

A cultural space that carries heritage

Determined to carve a unique path, he infused spiritual symbolism such as the characters “duyen” (fate) and “giac” (enlightenment) into his gold-painted ceramic products crafted from quartz crystals. Fired at extremely high temperatures ranging from 1,300°C to nearly 2,000°C, these distinctive pieces form the foundation of what is now known as Nason spiritual ceramics.

According to Dr. Le Duy Hao, the uniqueness of Nason ceramics lies in its high quartz crystal content and specialized firing techniques, which produce vibrant and rare color effects. Continuing to innovate, he introduced 24K nano-gold coating technology to enhance both the aesthetic and commercial value of his work, expanding the reach of Nason ceramics in domestic and international markets.

In 2018, Nason ceramics was recognized by the Vietnam Records Organization (VietKings) and the World Records Union (WorldKings) as the ceramic line with the highest quartz content in both Vietnam and the world.

A year later, he was awarded an honorary doctorate by the World Records University in recognition of his contributions to creative craftsmanship. Most recently, the Vietnam Copyright Certification and Verification Center granted a copyright certificate for his "Process of painting and nano-gold coating on Nason spiritual ceramics" - a new achievement that further validates the uniqueness of the Nason brand.

Alongside these personal milestones, Dr. Le Duy Hao officially launched the Nason Spiritual Ceramic Heritage Cultural Space. It serves as a platform for the public to explore Vietnam’s traditional ceramic craft through a modern spiritual and cultural lens.
