VietNamNet Bridge – Vietnamese athletes have earned three tickets to compete at the second Summer Youth Olympic Games in China next year.

Nguyen Tran Anh Tuan secured a silver medal in the men's 56kg jerk-and-clean category at the World Youth Weightlifting Championships, which concluded yesterday (Apr 14) Tashkent City, Uzbekistan.

The success strongly helped the Vietnamese, with 100 points, ranking 13th overall, to grab one slot to take part in the Nanjing City event from August 16 to 28.

On the women's side, the team pocketed 116 points and ranked at seventh. The result allowed the team to pick two more berths.

The world tournament lured more than 440 athletes from 52 countries and territories. Viet Nam took part in the event with 14 members. They are the first of the country confirming their Youth Olympic participation.
