Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has approved the Ministry of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs' proposal for a nine-day Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday in 2025.
This means public employees and workers in Vietnam will enjoy a total of 22 days off for public holidays and Tet in 2025.
The 22 days include 11 official holidays and 11 compensatory or consecutive days off due to overlapping with weekends or adjusted work schedules.
Holiday schedule for 2025
· Lunar New Year (Tet): Workers in administrative, educational, political, and social organizations, as well as businesses, will have nine consecutive days off, from January 25 to February 2, 2025 (28th of the Lunar Year of the Dragon to the 5th of the Lunar Year of the Snake). This includes five Tet days and four weekend days.
· April 30 (Reunification Day) and May 1 (International Workers’ Day): Workers will have a five-day break from Wednesday, April 30, to Sunday, May 4, 2025. This schedule results from swapping the workday on Friday, May 2, with Saturday, April 26.
· National Day (September 2): Workers will have a four-day holiday from Saturday, August 30, to Tuesday, September 2, 2025. This includes September 2 and the adjacent day off.
· Hung Kings’ Commemoration Day: Falling on Monday, April 7, 2025, this holiday will provide three consecutive days off, as it is preceded by a regular weekend.
