The concert was attended many government and state leaders, including Politbureau member, National Assembly Vice Chair Tong Thi Phong, Minister of Information and Communications Nguyen Bac Son, high-ranking officials from ministries and central agencies and foreign diplomats in Hanoi.

The one-and-a-half-hour concert started with Vietnam's national anthem, performed by the Vietnam Symphony Orchestra (VNSO) under the baton of noted conductor Le Phi Phi, who currently works in Macedonia.

Also, conductor Phi and his orchestra accompanied a choir performing the song To Quoc (Motherland) by Ho Bac, with singer Trong Tan as the choir's presenter.

Soprano Ha Pham Thang Long and baritone Manh Dung joined the choir to perform the song Vinh Quang Hon Dan Toc (Glorious Nation) by Do Hong Quan.

Long also presented the aria Co Sao (Miss Sao) composed by composer Do Nhuan. Written in 1963, the patriotic opera was the first to be performed with Vietnamese patriotic music.

Singers Tung Duong, Dang Duong, and Lan Anh performed the song Tieng Hat Giua Rung Pac Bo (The Vocal in Pac Bo Jungle) by Nguyen Tai Tue, Chiec Khan Pieu (Pieu Scarf) by Doan Nho, Nguoi Lai Do Tren Song Pa Ko (Ferryman on Pa Ko River) by Cam Phong, and Bam Bien Que Huong (Stay with Homeland's Sea) by Pham Tuyen.

Also, accompanied by the VNSO, violinist Xuan Huy played the work Bai Ca Chung Thuy (Song of the Loyalty) by Hoang Duong.

The VNSO later presented an extract entitled Dien Bien Phu on the Air from the symphony December by composer Tran Manh Hung, as well as the Vietnamese folk tune Cay Truc Xinh (Little Bamboo Tree).

The concert was broadcast live on VTC1 channel.

"Things Everlasting" concert, launched in 2009 by VietNamNet newspaper, takes place every Independence Day at the Hanoi Opera House.

With an aim to popularise Vietnamese symphonies and chamber music - particularly those highlighting the country’s construction, defence and Doi Moi (Renewal) process - and inspire patriotism among Vietnamese citizens, the concert has become one of the most anticipated musical events of the occasion.

This year’s concert has been elevated to a national-scale event with the Ministry of Information and Communications acting as the steering committee and Minister Son as head of the committee.
