Before assuming the new position, Mr. Ba was the chief editor of Information and Communications Magazine. Mr. Tran Anh Tu, the magazine’s vice chief editor, will replace Mr. Ba to run the magazine for six months from December 1, in accordance with another decision signed by Minister Nguyen Manh Hung.
Mr. Ba was born in 1970 in the central province of Nghe An. He has 30 years’ experience working in the field of journalism and communication in many positions and for many press agencies. He used to be Deputy Editor-in-Chief of VietNamNet before becoming the chief editor of the Information and Communications Magazine.
At the appointment ceremony on December 1, the newly appointed VietNamNet Editor-in-Chief expressed his gratitude to the leaders of MIC for entrusting him with new tasks and thanked his predecessor as well as VietNamNet staff for creating great achievements over the years. In the new position, he promised to join his co-workers and inherit the achievements and create new values in the future.
“In the time to come, VietNamNet will accompany the pulse of digital technology, spread the story of digital transformation to everyone, every home, to affirm the position and leadership of the information and communication industry in digital transformation in Vietnam,” Ba said.
The newly-appointed Editor-in-Chief said VietNamNet would become a positive journalism model, solution journalism, inspirational journalism, bringing readers valuable and insightful content about every subject of political and social life, spreading good and creating social trust.
In addition to the goal of becoming a leader in technology and a modern newspaper, VietNamNet is striving to become a favorite environment for journalists, nurturing the enthusiasm and the spirit of serving the society of youth, he said.
“In order to go further, VietNamNet will have to standardize the content to become a good, responsible newspaper, optimize resources to rejuvenate and build up a team of journalists who are passionate about their profession and have the spirit of serving society. It is necessary to modernize technology to become a leading electronic newspaper,” Mr. Ba said.
Minister Hung said the Party and the State want a leading newspaper in both technology and content. The challenges should be seen as driving forces and opportunities for development.
