The owner of this bonsai tree is Mr. Pham Duong Quyet, in Le Quy Don Ward, Viet Tri City. This tree is praised by experts on ornamental trees as the most beautiful pine tree of Southeast Asia.
At the International Conference on Ornamental Trees, held in Taiwan on February 22, it was selected as one of the 100 most beautiful ornamental plants in the world.
This ancient pine tree of more than 300 years old comes from a famous Chinese family. After a long trip from China to Vietnam and then from the south to the north, after being owned by dozens of people, the tree has finally belonged to Mr. Quyet since mid-2007.
Currently, this plant is placed in the courtyard of the Department of Health of Vinh Phuc province, while the tree’s owner lives in Viet Tri City, Phu Tho Province.
The criteria to evaluate an ornamental tree include the following aspects: the age, the general beauty, and the meaning that the viewers can learn from the tree.
With the shape length of 2.8 m, tree-trunk height of 2.3 m, the ancient pine tree is planted in a monolithic octagonal rock pot of hundreds of years old. The sophisticated styling of this tree is the most special thing. In the art of ornamental plants, it is the most difficult to make shapes for pine trees.
Quyet said since the tree was recognized as one of the most beautiful ornamental trees in the world, many local entrepreneurs and international business people from China, Korea, Japan, Taiwan, the Philippines and Singapore went to see the tree and wanted to buy it.
He said a businessman in Hai Phong City was willing to give him a million US dollar to buy the tree as a gift to congratulate his mother on her longevity, but he did not agree because “precious objects find noble men," Quyet said.
