Maintaining peace and security in the East Sea and strictly implementing the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS) is completely in line with China's interests, and with its important role in the international arena.
Behind China's violations is the intention to control the East Sea through promoting maritime claims that are completely contrary to the provisions of the 1982 UN Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).
The Association of People Loving Vietnam in the Republic of Korea (VESAMO) has demanded China immediately stop violations of Vietnam’s sovereignty, sovereign rights and jurisdiction of Vietnam in the East Sea.
Survey vessel Haiyang Dizhi 8 and other coastguard ships of China are operating around the Vanguard Bank in the East Sea, which is a blatant violation of international law as the area is within Vietnam’s 200-nautical-mile EEZ.
