Vietnam’s mounted police force, which will operate under the Mobile Police Force Command of the Ministry of Public Security, was formed in 2020. The force will directly train and utilize horses to fight crime, and take care of the team, including breeding new members.
The force can be used for patrolling and controlling unruly demonstrations, especially in areas where normal vehicles cannot be used. The force will fight crime, patrol and engage in rescues in mountainous areas, as well as maintain security in cities.
The cavalries could also transport weapons and food to remote areas, as well as participate in governmental ceremonies and receive international heads of state. They would also participate in international competitions to gain experience.
Recently, at the Center for Research and Development of Mountain Breeding in Binh Son Commune, Song Cong City, Thai Nguyen Province, the Mobile Police High Command held a training session to report on the task of advanced training of professional animals.
The training session had the participation of hundreds of officers and soldiers of the cavalry police force, and police dog trainers.

Cavalry mobile police force makes debut in Vietnam
Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan attended the launching ceremony and marching of the Cavalry Mobile Police Corps at Ba Dinh square, Hanoi on June 8.
