The national carrier Vietnam Airlines said on June 8 that its first Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner will participate in a flying display at the 51 st Paris Air Show, running from June 15-21 at Le Bourget Airport, Paris, France.
During the event, the aircraft, which bears the new logo of Vietnam Airlines, will perform a 10-minute flying display everyday.
It will be the first time Boeing displays a completed version of 787-9 with a carrier’s symbol, and it is also the first time Vietnam Airlines’ logo - with its lotus symbol in the two typical colours of yellow and blue - is presented in one of the biggest international aviation events.
The aircraft is to leave Paine Field Airport, the US, on June 10 for Paris, then will return to the US on June 19 to carry out trial flights before it is officially handed over to Vietnam Airlines.
Vietnam Airlines plans to operate the aircraft on domestic flights between Hanoi-Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi-Ho Chi Minh City-Heathrow (London, UK) routes.
Vietnam Airlines will be the first carrier in the region to operate the Boeing’s latest aircraft line on direct flights from Southeast Asia to Europe, as well as the first company in Asia to operate Boeing’s two new kinds of aircraft, the 787-9 Dreamliner and Airbus A350-900XWB, in 2015.
