Ly Nha Ky steps out of the spotlight

Ly Nha Ky, whose given name is Tran Thi Thanh Nhan, said in a letter sent to the press, dated June 3, that she will stop all entertainment appearances and performances after seven years in the business.

“I want to spend more time managing the Vietnam Education and Healthcare Development Fund to help disadvantaged people,” Ky said.

She explained that she decided to send an official resignation to the press to be seen as an ordinary member of the public and not call too much attention to her previous career.

“When I took care of my ill mother recently, I realised just how short life is. I don’t want my mother to continue worrying so much about me and I really want to build a more meaningful life by helping the disadvantaged,” she said.

When asked about the possibility of returning to her former activities, including the role of Vietnam’s tourism ambassador, Ky said she would be honoured to receive such an invitation, but is not focusing her efforts on that at the moment.

Nguyen Van Tinh, Director of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism’s International Cooperation Department, said that next week he would propose that the jury council would invite Ly Nha Ky to act as Vietnam’s tourism ambassador once again.

Tinh noted that Ly Nha Ky was exemplary in her accomplishments of her tasks in her first term.

In 2013, Ly Nha Ky was granted the role of National Jewellery Ambassador by the Vietnam Association of Fine Arts, Gold Jewellery, and Gemstones.
