Maps proving Vietnamese sovereignty over the Paracel (Hoang Sa) and Spratly (Truong Sa) islands have been added into new volumes of a local famous comic named Vietnamese Child Prodigy or Than Dong Dat Viet.

Between September 4 and 25, 773 people showed their support for the comics on a Facebook page that can be seen at http://www.facebook.com/tddvtshs.

The page was set up before Phan Thi Company launched the new volumes to gain publicity.

According the company, the story line was based on documents about Hoang Sa and Truong Sa islands and includes historical details related to Vietnamese island sovereignty. They said that they hoped the comic would help provide Vietnamese children with some awareness of the island sovereignty issue.

Vietnamese Child Prodigy is the country’s first set of comics that has gained widespread popularity among children.

The content is humourous and entertaining, and focuses on four children characters named Ti, Suu, Dan and Meo.

These characters were designed to instill fondness for learning about Vietnamese history and culture. Launched in 2001, to date, 150 black and white and three colour volumes of the comics have been issued.
