VietNamNet Bridge – Two companies of the Ministry of Defense - Bao Tin and Hai Minh – launched an oil spill response vessel named NASOS II on March 13. This is the biggest ship of its kind in Vietnam at present.

The facility, which is 55 meters long, 12 meters wide, 5 meters high, has a tonnage of 952 tons and a speed of 12 nautical miles per hour.

The ship can contain 427 cubic meters of reserve oil and collect 327 cubic meters of oil from oil spills.

It is designed by a French group named Piriou Ingenierie and equipment was imported from countries in the Group 7, the European Union (EU) and South Korea.

NASOS II is permitted to run in international routes, with a range of 250 nautical miles.

After the vessel was launched, Bao Tin and Hai Minh companies will finalize equipment installation on the ship, test and then hand over the vessel to the Southern Region Oil Spill Center in HCM City.

In November 2010, the NASO I was launched. This ship is much smaller than the NASO II.
